nice and clean. is it safe to run 10:1 c/r w/o twin plug?
|
Ohio to LA to L.A. What a trip Tangerina is having.
I can't wait to see the finished product. I know it will be done right. Tyson, will you spill the beans about the plan for her or is it just a tease until its all done? |
i think i get the name even....
|
isn't that shuie's old car?
|
tom, Yes, and Dougs before that. I came really close to buying it but just couldn't swing it with the new son in the house.

There are more pics coming. The short story is that after I got the car, I realized it was a low-mileage "survivor", so any thoughts of modification were out the window. Just some mild suspension upgrades in the form of stiffer torsions, and shocks, and lower ride height. I don't want to disturb anything, or do any welding beyond the spot rust repair required. |
Some more progress:
After installing my 15X7 RSR finish Fuchs, new spring plate bushings, rear torsions, lowering etc. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1141174045.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1141174181.jpg Archeological dig, or oil tank removal? I must have removed 20# of oil/dirt from around the oil tank. The plus side? The oil crud preserved the tank. Only one small rust pin hoile that was easily repaired. Tank is now restored, the sender repaiered and resealed, and the rest of the oil system completed. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1141174282.jpg |
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so happy for you man, this car had your name all over it. Total period car, unique, the color, everything! I will hold my breath has to if you can avoid modin' her :-D get me some interior pics for my project CONGRATS!!!! The man has 3 911's folks, count em, three! |
I can't wait to see it in person!
|
She should be running tonight. I just need to tidy up the fuel system, and fill the tank.
It'll take every ounce of restraint not to blast her around the block with no headlights or plates. :D |
Wow, very cool, Tyson. I remember you were talking about her when I was in the shop. Very cool that "she's" shaping up ...and one of my favorite long-hood colors! You keeping her?
Ed |
Gotta say, the pics don't do it justice. The body gaps on this car are so nice... aside from a couple of rust spots, the original paint is plenty good enough. I wonder if this car will ever really see the track...? If it does, i bet it'll have protective plastic all over the nose!
Funny thing, I'm not sure any customer car has progressed as quickly as Tangerina Jolie has... :-) |
Nice work Tyson! You made more progress on this car in 24hrs than I would have made in the next 3 years!
This is a really good car. Overall, its probably in better shape than my Sepia car was when I bought it. If I had the space, I would have kept it. I know I'll never have a shot at another car like this, but Im really glad to see that its going to stay on Pelican. |

Saw Tysons car when I picked up the Frog. Absolutely killer car. Tyson was like a kid on Christmas morning for sure. What a ool project this is gonna be.
|
I love it when the stars line up like this. The right car, at the right time, in the right hands. It's good for the car and good for Tyson. And we get to watch, so we all win.
Congrats and can't wait to see it (or ride in it)! Don |
Hm, evil forces downgraded this thread to the technical forum. :)
|
Congrats - looks like a nice addition to your family of 911s!
Keep us posted, pleeeeeeeze! Doug |
Glad to see another "4 door" being saved. Miss my '72 a lot...

Seriously Dude, nice car! And yeah, Buddy! That oil tank was one of the messiest job I have EVER done on any car! This pic is after a LOT of clean up just so I could get the camera for a few pics! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1141225388.jpg Joe, call me when you get home!! |
Geez Tyson, slow down!!! Everyone will think, no problem, those guys can put my car together in a week, great! Will have shells being dropped for preperation for track events in 10 days, no problem.

If Tyson is your Foose, who is your "AJ?" http://www.adriennejanic.com/gallery.html |
Certainly not Rene!

Well, she ran last night. So sweet! Open MFI stacks on an S spec motor at 6000 rpm is intoxicating!
It was around 11:30, so luckily I was just too tired to take her for a spirited test drive. |
Yes that is lucky, because your lic. plate panel would have gone flying.

So good to see somebody give that car what I couldn't. BRAVO!!! SmileWavy |
Oh man. The car looks and sounds great! I cant believe to got it together so fast.
Oh. Tysons groupies wanted to come by and watch Tyson pull, I mean crank his motor over. They werent buying the "Ill never post these on the internet" line so the clothes stayed on. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1141271831.jpg |
that's a nice group but it's definitely NOT a flat six
|
that is too funny.
|
Beer coming out of my nose on that one Harlequin!

Dropped by last night to hear the old girl purr. Tyson took her out for a blast down the block and that little 2.5 he built broke her tires loose when it came on cam! Sweet sounding (and pristine looking) engine.
It now has headlights and soem other essentials -- with some of the goodies taken away from Scrappy -- causing Jeremy C to comment: 'does that mean Scrappy should be renamed Jennifer Aniston?' |
Poor Jennifer! How soon the passion fades. Hmm, maybe I could play Vince Vaughn in this sorded little soap opera? Whadda ya think Tyson, I'll take her off your hands. I'll make her forget all about you.
|
Jeez, I'm no Brad Pitt. Besides, he probably can't drive a stick.
If Steve McQueen were alive today, I'd like to think he could pull both those hotties away from Brad. He's a real man. Anyway, yeah, I took Tangerina out for a blast last night and it was pretty gratifying. Like Bill said, I rolled on the throttle, and once the revs hit 3K, I stood on it. She came up on the cam, and the ass-end stepped out! The only downside was that I'm running a stock muffler. It think the sport muffler is going on her tonight. It's just too quiet. |
