Cookie cutters on an early car?
I'm trying to help a buddy id a car. I know its an early car, but it has cookie cutters on it. Were cookie cutters ever an option or standard on an early car? I'm guessing the car is a 72 or 73 but I haven't gotten a look at it yet, I'm just guessing. Anyways it was a question I didn't know the answer too, so I figured I would ask the experts.
Thanks in advance

I might very well be wrong, but I thing the Cookie Cutters were introduced for the 1974 model.

I believe cookie cutters came out sometime in the 1972 model year as a cheaper, distinctive alternative to the forged Fuchs. (Trying to give the E it's own identity) They were standard eqipment on 73 911E's.
They were also std equipment on the 1974 US model 911S. Jerry Kroeger

By the way, the cookie cutters may not help you identify the year of the car. 15x6 cookie cutters will fit on any '69-'73 911. The easiest way to determine if the car is actually a '73 is the large black rubber bumper guards on front and rear. If the car is a '72, it will have the chrome and rubber bumper guards but the oil filler flap on the passenger side near the rear wheel. If the car is a '70-71, it will have the 2.2 badge on the engine grille. Blah...blah...blah...

Sorry but the '73 cars I see in So Cal tend to have the big rubber bumper guards still in place. Like the '73 911S I saw yesterday. Those beautiful early 911 lines RUINED by those giant honkin' bumper guards.

But yes, they could be original on a '73 or possibly added later.
