Question 911R tail lights on a carrera

Right tail light housing is having issues. For the cost of one OEM tail light housing, I think I can get a pair of 911R tail lights. I'd paint the center reflector if I do the R lights.

Anyone have pix of a SC or Carrera with R tail lights? How about back up lights?

Thanks,

Im also considering doing this on my sc. The r style lights would really clean up the back of the car.

R tail lights & painted center reflector:

I opted for the 4 red lenses, this is mostly driven on the track. I still have turn signals and parking lights, but no reverse lights. You can get 1 red and 1 half amber (turn) / half clear (reverse) for each housing. I think Jack O. has them....but you may have a hard time finding a picture of his car.

Thanks Jack.

I'd be one big fat liar if I said that your car had absolutely no effect on what I've done to mine. It's a skinnier, slower version I guess.

sorry to hijack the thread, but Josh, can you post a few more pics of your car? looks fantastic. How did you paint the rear lens and have the Porsche script come through?

Shaun- the reflector was painted black, and the PORSCHE script is actually a sticker in flat black, even though it looks kinda silver in the picture. It's very subtle a most angles, but in certain light it really stands out.

Here are a couple pics I took a few weeks ago. Pretty lousy quality, sorry. Those are the track wheels. For the street I have 7&9 Fuchs with black centers/polished lips. They're actually on the car now, but damn it's too cold to take pics. Hope to get some better ones when it gets a bit warmer out.

Great looking car, Josh! I would say that all the changes you've made will have broad appeal.

Is that the little oil cooler scoop I spy on the RF??? Do you have any temp data for that mod?

Josh,
Thanks for the pixs of your R lights. I have something very similar to your car in mind. I'm planning on the Ruf bumpers but I want to do the B&W front bumper with the brake ducks molded in.

No back up lights.....I plan on hanging a clear Hella back there along with the red fog lamp.

Yeah, it's the oil cooler scoop. It does help, probably around 10-15 degrees. I cut out the back of the passenger headlight bucket and remove the headlight for direct air onto the cooler for hot track days. Great cheap mod (if you don't mind cutting up your car a bit).

I wish I had the brake ducts molded in also. For now I'm running 3" hose from behind the foglight grilles to feed the 964 deflectors. Seems to be working fine.

great look. i've seen the car in the "before" stages and it was just as badass, but this is beyond words. the smooth bumper and the duck really transformed the car. for the better. rollbar and ra1's too, huh? guess we'll be seeing each other soon

A pic of my '78 SC with R Lights. Some have really bashed me on the look but I like them. Painting that big center reflector would be a good idea...

Mark, have you thought about removing your bumper pads? It would really clean things up nicely back there. Otherwise, the lights look fine

Oh, and my car IS and SC at heart, so how about this......

They're painted. I sent them to this guy in Long Island, NY. Quality job with good service and fast turn around time.

Thanks Dave. Yep, the track specific mods are adding up. Guess I'll see you at VIR (Zone 2) at the end of the month...I think I saw your name on the entry list. Love that track.

Josh - that is one badass looking Carrera! Very nice work, and very similar to how mine will look soon, except I'll be using an early Carrera tail. I've thought about the R taillights - I think you just made my mind up! You know, a pair of Ruf/935 mirrors would really finish that off.

Damn, really handsome car! Good work.
