Will Lindsey Racing 17"X9.5" Fit under Stock Carrera 3.2 Falres?

Does anyone know if 17"X9.5" Lindsey's will fit under stock rear Carrera 3.2 flares?

If so, what is the appropriate tyre size?

Thank you.

Mike

Check out this thread, there is a Carrera with 8" and 9.5" by 17" Lindsey Racing. Not sure what size, they look big though.

Hi Bill,

This is great information.

Any chance you could post this in a way I can print it for future reference?

If there is any way to do this.

Or, .......tell me what I am doing wrong.

My printer loses the right margin of your posting.

Even in landscape mode I lose those important part Nrs of the Fuchs wheels.

I don't know how to get the full info along the right margin of the page.

Thanks,

Len

I looked into doing this myself. The problem is, with a 9.5 inch wheel, you should look for at least a 265 tire. None of the popular high performance tires I've looked at come in a 17" rim size with the right outside diameter in that width. And, unless you space the wheel way out, you can't fit anything wider than about 285 inside the rear fender. Maybe there are acceptable options out there but I sure didn't find any. You need a tire that has a 25" outside diameter plus/minus 1/2", and between 265 and 285 (possibly 315) width.

That's not quite correct, w/ a 9.5" wide rear wheel you can use 255/40 thru 285/40 x17. As you pointed out the tire height for these goes from 25 to 26", the latter is too tall w/o regearing the transmission but the former 2 are fine

I use 275/40 @25.7" wich just barely clears on both side of the wheel well, there is no additional room for a 285/. I wouldn't recommend this setup for most people, I did it because the 3.8 has a ton of torque and I wanted freeway gears for that car, I also geared the trans higher than stock to that same end.

I do agree w/ you that a 265/40 or 255/40 x17 would be a much better choice for almost everyone w/ stock gearing.

Bridgestone RE71 and Michelin Pilot Sports used to be available in a 265/35 x17 @ 24.3" tall but unfortunately they are NLA

You can see theffect of various tires on gearing here
