Lets see your tricked out 3.2 motor

While my 86 3.2 motor is apart for head and cam upgrades I want to powdercoat or paint some of my parts without getting too wild. Show me some of yours for a better idea of the options.

Mine is nearly back together. My car and engine bay are dark blue so the lighter blue should contrast nicely.

Looking good Keith. Did you do the shroud and fan guard too? I can't quite tell from the angle. Did you paint or powdercoat? I want a clean look too. Just don't want it looking like a motor meister cartoon.
I'm Grauds Red with a red engine compartment. My valve covers are polished but I love the way paint looks on the ones I've seen.

Everything is powder coated except the engine support bracket which I did with black por15. That part wouldn't fit in the oven. I did the fan guard (black) but didn't bother with the shroud.

Seems like red, black, and silver work well together with a guards red car. Red fan, black cover with silver valve covers would be good. The Ferrari combo of red and yellow seems to work too.

Keith
My car is low and has a great sound, otherwise it's an original classic '75 Carrera. I want to keep it looking as clean as possible. I agree powdercoating Red and black would seem right and does keep with the serious machine look it has. Keep the polished valve covers and go with red fan, red shroud and maybe a new set of red plug wires. I'll probably just clean and paint the mount. I'd love to afford a polished fan. Thanks

I have a guards red car and going to go with Keith's original suggestion of black and red. I will go with chrome/silver valve covers and just paint the the PORSCHE lettering by hand using some high temp paint to see if that holds up better. I may even do the intake as well. Figured powdercoating will make it easier to keep clean since it will be coated.

You may want to consider blasting the fan and just polishing it with some mag wheel cleaner. Just have to touch it up every now and then to keep it shiny. Either that or powdercoat it with a highly reflective silver or what they call chrome.

Next week I hope to do my engine tin, fan, valve covers. If so, I will post pics of the final product.

While you are powdercoating the sheet metal, cylinder deflectors, fan, shroud, strap, etc, you may also want to consider cadmium plating all the metal brackets, linkage pieces and hardware. It pays BIG dividends in aesthetics and lends a personal touch to the motor.

3.2 to 3.5 - Part II

Just got my back yesterday.

It goes into my 1989 Black Carrera Cabrio 3.2. The new foil engine pad was fitted tightly and looks great as well.

My 3 year old went nuts when he saw it. WOW!!
