Loprene heater hoses

Several years ago, I installed loprene hoses from both exchangers to the flapper boxes. I was really impressed how easy they were to manipulate in the tight confines.

Not so easy to take off, I have found. They were fused to both the exchanger and the flapper. Removing them will destroy them and require some scraping to remove the residue.

Disappointing to find that I have to replace them like this. I guess I need to stock a couple of them in the garage.

Does this same thing happen with the heater hoses that Aircraft Spruce and Specialty sells??

Brian

I think not... as the SCEET and SCAT pieces are high grade silicone....don't know for sure, though....

Does anybody have some decent pictures of the Loprene installed? Also what the finished ends look like?

I just installed some of the OE Black Paper hoses and while the right side went on fine, the left was a b-e-a-r (and it still isn't 100% on there). I run SSIs and I've heard the OE doesn't match up too well with the left side.

I don't mind popping for the Loprene but I'd like to make sure the quality is there.

Thanks,

Scott

I spent upwards of an hour messing with it. It's barely on there now. If it comes off I'll have to slice the edge so it can get over and then clamp it really good.

Talk about frustrating...

I would GLADLY pay for an extra 1 mm of width (or less on the exchanger) on the hose so it would fit. Good god.

Get the SCAT or SCEET product...you can even choose single or double wall construction....fits fine as I've used this for the application being discussed. High quality....nice orange color , too
