Not having any heat is a problem, but the big issue here is the roads being like a washboard with all the frost heaves. Last time out I hit bumps so hard it actually knocked it out of gear. Not to mention these sticky Khumo's throwing every bit of sand and gravel up tearing up my paint. Then there's the frozen hose so I can't wash it. No guy wants a frozen hose...

I'll really be glad to get back to this-

Yep, would've had lots of good P-car driving days this winter but unfortunately she's on the operating table getting new shocks, ball joints and a valve adjustment. Sorry, no pics allowed in the OR :)

Oh well, here's to looking forward to the first track weekend of the season: (May 6/7 - 60 days and counting...)

I've been waiting for sunny days and warm temps. since Nov. 05. In my case sunny days may come by May. On the plus side, heated storage.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1141871382.jpg

Well here in Indiana, it's not been a very hard winter, so I had my car out a few times. But I'm kind of anal about dust, salt, grime, on my car, which there has not been any, so in a few days I'll get the car out and run the hell out of it to Sebring, maybe?

Spring will be here soon...

The Bad news is that there is still snow on the ground. The good news is that I took my car out of the garage yesterday so that it could go to the shop to have the new engine installed and some other goodies added on...!!

In a couple of weeks, all should be done and then I will really be going crazy waiting for the snow to melt.

BM99-I feel your pain. I also agree, why the heck should we cold climate guys apologize for having to store a nice car. It's part of where we live-period.

Here's mine. I use the down time to make improvements. Last winter-strut bars, sway bars, wheels/tires, lowering, and corner balance. This winter's-custom turbo. Next winter-Rsr style interior w/ Pole position seats. The next winter-possible backdate, but more likely some cleaning up of body panels and alignment. Then it should be done. Just in time for me to relocate south!;)

New battery is in - the right sized one, not the tiny 630 amp weakling someone put in before me. Now with 800 amps OEM spec, that's the way to do it.

Out of hibernation.......................YEA BABY!!!!!!

Hooked up the battery to the '77. Same as last year, it started right up, like if I drove it a couple days ago.

Have to love the great weather. I took my baby out of hibernation last week for a spin in the good weather. She started up great but there is a really strong hestitation above 3000 rpm. I guess it is time to do some engine maintenance (I have never changed the plugs or the points).

I have done a lot of work on my car this off-season but it doesn't seem like I got a lot done. I still have to POR15 the front pan (its clean but added protection never hurt), finish the install on my vintage radio (see pic, I need the proper vinyl surround), bleed the brakes, adjust my valves, as well as the plugs and points.

Howard,

What are the white balls around the cars for?

nine30 03-14-2006 06:13 AM

That's Porsche Poop!!!

nine30 03-14-2006 06:14 AM

Really,

It is probably to keep rodents from getting into the cars

It's garlic to keep the oil vampires away! :)

Gratefuldead..........throw out that Armor All, and get yourself some 303 Protectant instead.

I also picked up the right sized trickle charger for next year. I had tried to use an old 1-amp motorcycle charger and think I fried it plus was not enough for the big battery.

Moth balls to keep the tin rats out I'll bet.

Yes, those are mothballs to keep the mice away. I've seen some scary mouse infestation pictures here so I put mothballs all around the car and a few in the trunks, engine compartments and interior (yuch! - but it airs out pretty quickly).

Two winters in storage and no mice so far - so I guess it's working.

Thrasher 03-14-2006 10:13 AM

You may want to do a search on the mothballs. IIRC, someone did a more scientific approach and found that they were only slightly effective, unless maybe you built an igloo with them.

One tip I do recall is to be sure to leave your heater flaps in the "on" position, as the rodents usually enter via the flapper door and build the nest in the depths of the cylinder fins.
