Lets start a hibernation thread!

Living in the great white north and owning a Porsche can be rough. Especially at this time of year waiting for the snow to clear, good weather right around the corner.

Lets see some Porsches awaiting sunny days a nd high temps. Maybe a little story to go along with it.

I'll start...http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1141794583.jpg

what a waste of a convert...

Geronimo '74 03-07-2006 09:21 PM

Why is it a waste to pamper your baby in wintertime?
If I had a second car, my 911 would only see sunny times.
It brakes my haert every time I have to take it through rain snow and road-salt.

Hibernation thread? I'll have to sleep on it...

I will drive my car any day I can get it warm on the inside.

:) All of my cars are sleeping right now as they are all not completed...so come snow or sun. I did however take my first Porsche '76 912e on roads it should not have drove on, and by that I mean deep snow...should have been stuck! Not sure how that worked...I drove it even when I couldn't get it warm on the inside. Hey you have a Porsche and it gets to see the road a few months a year..no worries:)

Thats right up my alley - and I hate it !

I was lead to believe the green house effect would create a milder climate up here. Bollocks! We have never had this cold and so much snow in March before. I donīt venture into the garage as of some weeks now. She looks like she is going to attack me if I donīt let her out real soon.. :(

So far (knock on wood) a great winter this year w/ lots of Pcar driving days here in Toronto. Yesterday and today are 2 good examples.

zachsbug 03-08-2006 04:19 AM

Ive been out here in the garage sleeping since November. Dad comes out almost everyday to say hi & talk with me but it still get Damn lonely out here. Cant wait till its nicer out to come out & play!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1141823904.jpg

Just out curiosity, below what temperature would it not be safe to take my baby out of hibernation, with respect to tires? I have S02s on my 85 Cab.

Last year was nasty! (see pic below) This year we have very little snow so I was able to get out fo a drive in Jan-Feb. No heater in the car though.

She looks hungry, Steve.. :D

dweymer 03-08-2006 06:01 AM

holy sheite thats a lot of snow!! You need a unimog!

project 911 03-08-2006 06:09 AM

It just kills me to see it sit there with rust and corrosion building up. Playing Need For Speed Porsche Unleashed on the weekends helps a little, but I really want to get back on the road!

kach22i 03-08-2006 06:15 AM

I took the car out of the garage last night - having to jump the dead battery. I put my car cover on it so I can get to it quicker as soon as it's warm enough and salt free enough.

This morning a slight dousing of sleet fell. For you sunshine boys, sleet is like slush falling from the sky. Slush is like what you get a 7/11 only clear/white.;)

Sorry, forgot to take pictures.

Took her cover off to play with the door pockets.
I don't usually park the Honda close to the Porsche when she doesn't have her cover on. Scared the rust will jump off the honda and attach it's self to my baby. I'm hoping this melt will continue and I'll be driving my baby once again.

Living in Orlando I can understand your feelings. Then again, you never have to deal with:

SALT, SALT, and more SALT.

Cold. Not that wussy 40 degrees you like to call cold.

Dodgey heaters. Ever had to even turn yours on?

A car that was never meant to be driven in the rain let alone snow.

Then again, it's my car to "waste" as you say.

Get a clue friend. The thread was meant more for people who miss driving there cars, not for trolls.

cool picture steve!

Bring on the summer :)

wcc 03-08-2006 08:13 AM

What are you guys talking about? It's SUMMER already here in Michigan! Our gas prices fluctuate with the seasons and holidays and just a couple days ago it went from 2.35 to 2.55 for the cheap stuff over night.

Ok, why worry about it? Cost of Living right........

Anyways, I feel the itch too BIG TIME!!! Lately I've been spending more time in the garage and when I'm inside I've been staring out the window as I listen to the weather report. It's going to be warm this weekend and if it rains tonight and tomorrow to get the salt off the road and then passes for the weekend I'm going to get the '85 out for sure!!
