So you think you know every thing about your 911?!

I was filling up at a Hess Station last night and as the instructions came up on the screen it showed me where to put the gas in my 911 (note the handle in the driver's side rear quarter). And to think all these years I was putting the gas in the wrong place. It's true, you do learn something new every day.

I would have thought America gave more credit to its people. Thats bluntly insulting your intelligence.

...." duh, so I should not just throw the nozzle on the ground when I am done, then ???"

Jeez, you'd think they would have used a Camaro or some other American car.

Oh wait, that's right. The 911 is an icon in the automotive world!!!

And yet we still managed to save Europe's butt twice last century. Is that cool or what?

But seriously, that graphic is intended to instruct "service" station attendants in how to correctly insert the fuel hose into the oil filler of a 1972 911.

Only about 1 out of 10,000 Americans would know that a 911's fuel filler is in the front wing.

Maybe this is why people with 1972 911s put gas in the oil tank.

I never put gas in my oil tank! But that radiator is a bear to get the bubbles out of.

This is pretty funny. But some of the replys are interesting too. America did not "save" Europe's butt twice in the last century. We picked a side in the WWI, there was not any "bad' guys in that one, we picked our closest friends and we saved their butts. And it is an urban myth as to the danger of using a cell phone while refueling.

The '72 owners should never let a gas station attendant near their cars!!! The oil cap is labeled OEL, or Oil, right?

Yesterday I saw an IDIOT college student filling his mini-Blazer while puffing on a cigarette ... Darwin just doesn't work soon enough, sometimes! I was glad I was two islands away, and only getting a gallon for my chain saw!!!

OK, wait a minute... is there a college in San Angelo?

And how do you know he went there?

Maybe he was just college-aged? (and not 'college-material'...)

I'm glad I'm on a different continent then

When I was 14 or so I saw a guy filling his truck with diesel while smoking a cigarette (he had a fuel pump at home). It scared the he!! out of me... it was only later I realized diesel does not explode.

Warren,

You of all people should know that all 72's have that rear flap to give you place to add that most necessary 710 fluid
