Deka - Another Dual Battery Option

Just picked up 2 Deka EXT30L batteries. 365 CCA each. They were $96 each. They fit nicely into the battery boxes but require a block of wood behind. They are AGM batteries with 6mm threaded holes for terminal posts. I bought Optima brass posts and mounted the posts horizontally.

The positive post comes with a protective cover for shipping. I left it on, and I also drilled a hole in it and used an automotive push fastener to hold it in place. That's the black dot on top. This will help prevent shorting if the battery shifts. (it won't though - it's snug with the wood behind it.) I need to find a nice wide cover for my OEM positive terminal. Any suggestions?

Here is a PDF file with all the info: http://www.eastpenn-deka.com/assets/base/0278.pdf

Looks great! Can I ask if the battery straps are original or have you replaced them? Mine are in really poor condition but I dont know where to get new ones? Thanks!

Those are original battery straps. They were in poor shape. Nothing a little paint stripper and spray paint couldn't fix. New ones are $190 a pair! OUCH! Got mine used for $30.

The ones that mount inside the battery box on mine are also really bad. I may need to be creative on those. Thanks.
