This sort of thing used to happen ALL the time in the 1:43 diecast collectible world. Minichamps even has an "Fake Models" page on their website now:
http://www.minichamps.de/images/upload/Fakemodelle/UnautorisierteModelle_de.htm Some of those photos are mine. Most of the fakes involved taking an existing model and replacing the 'inlay card' with a 'rare version'. It was easy to do. Just find the correct card stock and run it through a high quality printer. Many of these would sell for $1000s on eBay. But maybe everything is just an innocent coincidence on this crest auction ..... |

Ebay ID history of "europeanhardware" reveals that prior to 1.3.2005 his ID was ehautoparts... the buyer of my crest. Not that there's anything wrong with that!
