Would you do complete floor pans or just outer panels?
I found these floor repair panels and was wondering if anyone had used them? And if it was better just to replace the whole floor pan? The floor in my car is only bad 2" in from the rocker and the middle section still looks brand new. Ideas, comments, and opinions.....

I can't quite figure out the piece you show. It looks different than the typical front or rear replacement floor pan. Maybe you could PM me and give me the link to the source. Anyway, I'll comment on what I know.
The floor bends up and becomes the second member of your longitudinal. On the early cars with the welded on outer rocker, it would be the 3rd member, so there is some strength from the outside. AFAIC, the right angle bend at the outer edge of the floor is very structural and should be sound. Now whether you can weld in a strip or plant on on one side or the other would be up to you. I find that fabricating and splicing is as much work or more than pulling out the whole piece that is bad. In most cases, not all. You don't have to cut out the tunnel, I would cut next to it and lay in the new floor. You might put an offset flange on the edge that lays on the existing to accomodate the extra thickness. |

Thanx, Zeke. That was pretty much my take on the structure in the area too. Think I'll just bite the bullet and replace it all, and have a better looking piece.
