New track possible for MA!
It seems that an investment group (a LLC formed by the New England SCCA) has signed a purchase and sale agreement to buy 600+ acres in central MA for the development of a 2 miles road course and autocross / instruction driving "pad". This area is close to RT's 90, 84, 91.
Best of all, about 1/2 hour FROM MY HOUSE! If, the permits are granted they anticipate opening by spring 2008. The location is pretty rural, similar in topography to Lime Rock. This would give Connecticut Valley PCA and Northeast PCA another avenue for AX and DE, Connecticut Valley currently runs on a parking lot at a greyhound racetrack that isn't in the best shape, they haven't been able to find another suitable location. The article I heard about mentioned that the access road to the track would be 1/2 mile long. We used to ride ATV's in that area, there is really nothing there, a few neighbors, but not many. The woods and hills surrounding the area would absorb a lot of noise. It also helps that Ware and Palmer have no plans for new schools (Ware just built a new elementary school and Palmer maybe 10 years ago) and I don't think the school systems could handle the kids that a residential development would put into the system. This gives Palmer a great tax base for relatively little to no support.
