3.2 Carrera heating and ventilation issues
I am in the process of going through my heating and ventilation system in my 86 Carrera. I have been unable to determine why the passenger and driver footwell blowers are not operating. I pulled and tested both and they are in good condition. I have checked the fuse and it's good. However they have never worked since I purchased the car and I can't find how they are supposed to operate in the manual. First, which switch operates these blowers? Is it the heater switch between the seats or the fan switch for the fresh air blower? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, John |

I have an '84 Cab and have had footwell blower problems as well. They are activated by the upper lever on the dash of the three heater controls, the fan lever. There is a resister in the front trunk that should be checked and if you have a Bentley, it gives a procedure. Mine stopped working after the power cord burned all of the insulation off when I turned them on one day. I had a shop rewire mine as electricity is still one of the great mysteries of the universe to me. I think each is now individually fused, which is recommended.
If you are not getting power to them when you slide the fan switch to the right, then you need to trace the wiring diagram from the fan switch back to the fuse box in the front trunk.
