What did I forget?

I happen to have my engine out for a trans rebuild and while it's out I've taken care of a few things:

oil cooler seals
oil thermostat seal
breather cover gasket
clutch
clutch cable
coupler bushings, shift rod bushing, ball cup bushing
valve adjust with new silicone cover gaskets
fuel filter
spark plugs
timing cover gaskets
cleaned and painted tins
oil pressure switch
spark plugs (I'm testing out the NGK V-Power for everybody)

Anything else that should be looked at at this time please chime in.

Not sure if applicable to your vehicle, fuel injector O-rings.

I did the intake gaskets as well. Are your fuel lines in good shape?

Good list.

CHT sensor
Flywheel sensor
Carrera Fuel line
Speed sensor

Nows the time if you want to change your oil temp sensor to the one with numbers - sensor changes as does the guage face. Oh and clean that beast

When you have the clutch off it is a good idea to replace the flywheel seal at the crankshaft. Same at the pulley end.

I don’t see oil return tubes and seals

Depending on the exposure to adverse road conditions the needle bearings at the clutch Omega-spring could be replaced. Certainly the rubber seals on the clutch linkage.

I am always in favor of installing the “Dam Seal” inside the clutch release (TO) bearing guide tube and drilling a drain hole.

With the chain covers off, I would replace the six plastic chain ramps and install new seals in the Carrera chain tensioners.

With the valve covers off, I would torque the cylinder head nuts and rocker arm shafts. A very careful valve adjust and check of the cam timing is in order.

You can do a cylinder leak test with the engine out of the car. This will give you lots of info. This is something you should do regularly to establish a baseline if there is ever a problem.

Look around the spark plugs for debris and errant hardware (like a spark plug gasket or terminal), once in the car you vision is limited to a mirror.

I’m sure others can think of more.

Best,
Grady
