Oil Temp Sending Unit Length??
I pulled out my original sending unit on my '83 SC and the part that extends into the car is about 2 inches long, where the replacement I received from NH Speedo is only about 1/2 inch? Do I have the wrong unit or does the length have nothing to do with it? Any chance I was sent one for a 914? There was some confusion when I ordered - are the 911 and 914 the same length?

Here is what I am talking about - the longer one is what is stock and the shorter one is the new one provided by NH Speedo to match with their numeric temp gauge. Probably makes little difference, but I thought I may have one for a 914?

For others benefit - does not look like many are interested - spoke to NH Speedo and as long as the tip is immersed in oil it is OK. Even my 914 sender is the long kind?

Vance,
IIRC, the difference in long/short styles was the subcontractor VDO used ... seems like Roland Kuntz had explained one time in the past!
