License Plate on Ruf style Valance

I've got the B&B cooler, brake ducts and rubber splitter done on the fiberglass valance. Last thing to figure out is the license plate bracket.

Please show me yours. I hate to ruin the looks but I guess I don't want tickets either.

Not exactly RUF ...but I wouldn't have a clue where to put a front plate. I think in L.A., its just a matter of time until I'm "told" to put one on.

Yup- just got a warning for not having the front tag on in Maryland. I think it would have been a ticket, but fortunately I had the license plate with me and told the officer I had just gotten the car (just a little white lie) and didn't know where to put it.

My car is just like yours Ashley Bower, I guess we're going to have to come up with something clever.

My car is just getting the valance and will keep the SC Bumper.
My thought was to mount it low, simular to the stock location, but I'll have to make a bracket to span over the grill. I think the 4 holes in the plate will possibly line up just above and below the opening. I need to come up with an attachment method so it doesn't screw up the fiberglass. I'll just take the plate off when I go to the track.
Anybody got some ideas for the fastners that will work in fibreglass so I won't have to get to the back side?

How can you bear to disfigure your car? Isn't it better to lie, ..er I mean "compromise the truth" to a cop? People who own Porsches tend to be pretty creative. I bald face lied right to a state trooper who was on a jag, told him it was a european car and oil lines etc are routed behind there, making it very difficult to mount, but...we are working on a solution.HA!

I was told if I was stopped again and it wasn't on the front of the car I'd get a ticket.

Couple of ideas -

There are Pop-rivet style inserts available that might work, but not sure if you can get them large enough to hold the plate. You would drill a hole through the f/g, install the threaded insert from the outside using a poprivet gun, then you're left with a threaded boss you can install a machine screw in. You'd probably want at least 3/16" screws, 1/4" would be better.

Or, there are expanding rubber plugs, which have a rubber washer face with a tube behind it; the tube has a threaded metal insert and when you tighten a screw into it the rubber expands and grips from the back. When you took the plate off you'd be left with the holes in the f/g.

Or, you could install a bolt through the back with a washer/nut to hold it in place from the front, then use an acorn nut to hold the plate on.
