Pulling the A/C: What am I missing
I started pulling the A/C from my 73.5. The under dash vents came out great (it was a pain but I did not damage them), all the engine compartment bits also came off...
I have questions about the front bits now... Obviously the big thing (#1) in the smuggler's compartment can go, but what else is there besides the hoses under the car ? What are bits 2 and 3 on the picture ? A/C stuff or others ? Anything else I am missing ? Is there something designed to plug the circular hole between the cockpit and the smuggler's compartment ? Coffee can lid ? ;-) it's quite drafty down there with the big air hose gone! |

Two is the charcoal cannister for gas tank vapors, it isn't part of the A/C. Three appears to be a blower for a front condenser- is there one installed under the front bumper valence? Removing these will leave a big hole up front. Up front here will be a receiver/drier somewhere likely under a front fender; the hoses will lead you to it. There will also be the wiring/relay from the evaporator/blower in the smugglers box to the fuse box area to remove.

Thanks Jim (again ;-)
Big hole ? As in bad, or just more room ? |
