Quick wheel stud question...

I am going back to stock wheel studs on my 1971 T. I know I need to pull the front hubs and rotors to replace the wheel studs. Do I also need to pull the rear hubs to repalce the rear studs as well? There is no way to sneak the rear studs out without tearing apart the whole rear hub?

Thanks in advance.

-Alex

Yes you can get them out without pulling the hubs. John Walker gives a good explanation on how it is done. Do a search on "remove wheel studs"

Yeah no need to pull the rear hubs. If you need stock studs I just pulled all 20 out my car.

Thanks all. I just bought new stock studs but thatks for the offer. I am a little worried that the studs in the car are so long they will not come out without pulling the hubs but we shall see. I may need to cut them.

As my posted link shows..if the "long" studs don't go much beyond 66-67 mm long ( vs stock of around 45mm)...you won't need to tear things apart in the back...

look at the link details.....

The 72mm studs can be used in the rear.

Just takes a little "coercing" of the parking brake backing plate behind the star wheel brake shoe adjuster.

I'm not endorsing this, it's just what had to be done since I didn't want to eat the cost of the 72's and buy an additional 10 65'ers.

Also note that the 72's are partially threaded and the wheel lug nuts can bottom out on the stud shank. Meaning you can't fully tighten the lug nuts onto the wheel. Ask me how I know........

Alex,

That's great! I hope they come out effortlessly!

What is the length of the studs, price, and shipping cost to Maple Ridge, BC, Canada V4R 2H3 (snail mail OK).

Thx

Al
