Gained all the weight back

I got Helga back yesterday along with extensive new additional steel...its a weld-in cage by Bond Roll Bars...FIA, CAMS and SCCA certified...I haven't had her on scales, but I suspect I gained a bit of weight back...the welds and fit are artwork. Excellent work. Peter and Alan were a pleasure to work with and know their stuff.

Thanks guys.

Hi Wil,
The headliner is actually in perfect shape and I plan on leaving it. The car might eventually make it back to the US or other street duty and it really only weighs a few ounces so I'll leave it. THe marks in the pic are just dust. I do have an RS carpet kit that I'm holding on to for future use.

I opted not to stitch into the B pillar as that's not allowed in CAMS. I plan on welding on a tab to each hoop to line up with the seatbelt bolt so I can bolt in where its allowed, leave it off for CAMS rules. I was going to test the flex at that point with some putty first though...

I am very happy with the fit and finish, they did an awesome job.

That cage looks really nice. It would be great to know what it actually weighs.

Do you mind me asking what it cost you ?

$3800. I understand they aren't taking cars 'off the street' and you needs to go to one of their mates. They are doing a few WRC cars now I believe. I didn't weigh before-and-after but I'd guess 25-30kg.

Ash, I was going to start with the PCNSW Carrera class...

Thanks Ed...all I did was write the check...er..cheque. Bond Roll Bars did the work and we collaborated on all the adjustments for the rules involved.

Ryan,
Theres a guy in PCNSW who recently set up a season or events for SC's and late 911s. I met him at the Scuderia at the monthly meetings.

John

Dumb question perhaps, but what are they doing with all the wiring?

Garage
I noticed in the pictures that where the bar goes up the "B" pillar that there is another bar going forward.

I have seen Ryans cage and I don't remember seeing it and I know my old car didn't have it. Is this a new cams requirement or is it just an additional strength issue??

Michael

Hi Ryan. Its wheel-to-wheel.

Neil, they aren't doing anything, that's all my problem! I pulled every inch of copper out and am re-wiring with just essential circuits. Based on a Painless kit. I pulled 20kg of wiring, sensors, relays and gadgets out (not including the AC). I've used this kit before so I've learned most of its idiocyncracies (sp?) but there are still a few gotchas!

Hi Michael. Not a CAMS issue but a strength one. Apparently something they learned off WRC cars.

Believe John Stockton from the PCNSW club is running it...there should be info there.

I'll be at the next meeting ~April 15. Are you nearby?
