I need a new set of rears (daily driver) and am currently running 285/30/18's on the rear. I'm thinking of going to a 285/35 profile instead.
Would the ride quality/comfort be noticably different with the slightly higher profile tyre?

No.
You will not feel a difference till you get to around a 55 series. (depends on the manfacturer) WK

In theory the higher profile should give you a slightly more comfortable ride. In reality you'll feel no difference from such a small change.
