Shocks, brakes
My '74 targa is a base 911. I have searched this site for threads on shocks and am still interested in opinions. I have Koni specials which are wearing out a bit. I am doing my first DE in 3 weeks, suspension parts are presently all stock. My mechanic says torsion bars could probably use upgrade for track use but need not be done right away. Mechanic has Boge struts with Bilstein inserts for sale ($250 for the pair) and recommended I jettison my Konis and get bilstein inserts. I am intrigued by the adjustability of the Konis but not sure how often I would use it (would love it if they could be easily adjusted in the car). I am REALLY excited for the DE and don't want the car to let me down. What should I do?
Question 2, anyone know what brake calipers came on the base 911 in '74 are these the same as 911S calipers. What pads should I have for the DE? |

How about posting some pics of the calipers? Both sides and closeups.

Base '74 used M calipers front and rear.
MPO is that Bilstein is a far better choice than Koni. If you go for your mechanics Bilstein struts, you may also need A or S calipers. The Ms have 3" mounts the others 3.5"
