O.K. So which car won? If I'm reading the time clocks right it looks like the Fiat? Nitro is amazing stuff but it really kills an engine.

the 911 won, but that's just not important

the tiny little bugger gave it a good run for it's money
and came in just a fraction of a second later ( the lights tell when they finish )

or is it the digital board? can't tell which one is left or right, i think the light going off above the finish is more obvious

a 911 beating a fiat is nothing to be proud off
especially not if i is done with such a small margin

this fiat dude has bragging rights...

Hmm.. I wouldn't have thought it wouldn't really be that difficult to make a little fiat go like stink in a straight line if you really wanted to poor enough money into it. The fiat in the second video sounds like it has some hulking V8 in it, and the fiat in the first video probably had a lot more than just nitrous added to it. I wonder if they can go round corners?

The first Fiat had a better E.T. but lost (barely). Not unusual.

someone told me that you can buy nitrous kits for about £400. apparently when you want a little bit of 'special speed' you press a button and you get 30 secs of nitrous.

so my question is, if you only use nitrous occasionally when you need a bit more oomph to overtake etc, is it bad for your engine? and if not shouldn't we all be fitting a nitrous spray to our porsches

many thanks

that's exactly the basis on which it's installed on all those little rice rockets

it's cost effective
and if used very seldom

the engine should take it

but people get addicted to the little button
use it more and more

the Fiat in the first video , that wasn't just nitrous ,i'm sure that there's an engine transplant involved as well, and not a stock engine to boot...

and no matter how you look at it

1 second on "Naaws" , is x number of seconds less engine life time

just like turbo boost will result in less longevity
sure , modern day cars are designed to handle the boost
but the same modern day cars would theoretically last even longer if they never had boost , or ran a bit less then the factory configured...

another reason why having a boost dial in the cockpit , is usually not so sensible, it's soooo tempting to turn it up , to often , to much...

Judicious use is necessary unless you take steps to richen the mixture to deal with potential lean-burn situations (and cooked pistons). Yes, it will wear your engine out more quickly as you are adding stress and I wouldn't recommend it, but that said, it has been done.

Best,

Tom

If it is done right it is not that dangerous, but to do it right adds up $$$ (ignition retard, fuel pressure moniture, rpm switchs, ect ect)

Here is a pic of my 90hp wet system
