Recently saw an 87 coupe like mine with an updated front bumper/spoiler that made a world of difference. The owner was not present, so I have no idea who makes the piece. Coming from a 993, I can not stand the front and rear bumpers on my 87 coupe (accordion look). Who make a really clean looking bumper and any pics or links would be nice. Also, how difficult is the fabrication or just bolt on?
Thanks for the help!! ![]()

Most of the conversions you see are fiber glass replicas that eliminate the heavy metal blades (bumper), valences, etc. Thus, you lose that crash protection. I guess you could source a used factory C2 assembly to smooth out the front fascia and retain crash protection....
That being said, in addition to later style bumper covers there are a number of choices such as trhe |Ruf yellowbird variants, etc. And fabrication/painting/etc is required. try these sites: www.gettydesign.com www.rennspd.com There are others as well. Somewhere I'VE seen a replacement for the black "accordian " that would be a lot cheaper/ easier but you wouldn't have the "rounded " look of later models. Call Brad Stubbs at BW Motorsports 618.622.0524. He fabricates his own Ruf Yellowbird-type front and rear bumpers. Just got a pair for my 911S3.6- they fit perfectly, no adjustments, no sanding etc... and look great. The body shop was amazed at the quality. I went with a pair that instead of fog light cut outs in front it has oval cooling ducts. He also does a cool center grill in black made of the same grill as is th engine grill in back-really ties together.
The car looks amazing and is 100 + lbs lighter to boot. Do a search on Pelican for the "Ultimate Ruf Conversion" for more opinions, pics etc.. Good Luck, Nick
