Alignment Shop Question

I'm considering bringing my 911 to a highly-reputable alignment shop - custom specs, many track guys swear by him, gives computer printout of all the before/after specs (castor, camber, toe, etc.). All the good things you can say about an alignment shop have likely been said of this guy.

The only thing is, although he's done 911s, I wouldn't consider him to be a 911 specialist. Is this necessarily a bad thing? I need an alignment ASAP (911 "specialists" aren't open on weekends). Thanks for any help.

Maybe 911 specialist isn't neccessaty, but 911 familiarity sure is.

Are you going to give him the specs you want, or his specs?

One of the best 911 alignment and corner balance shops in LA is Johnson Alignments. They aren't really a "Porsche Shop" because there aren't enough Porsches out there to keep a large shop busy. They will align anything.

The quality of the work is the only thing that is important. I would ask here for recommendations but there doesn't sound like there is a problem with the work they are doing.

BTW - The only shop that I know of up in the bay area is Jerry Woods place in Campbell. A call to them would definitely get you some great quality work but I don't now about their prices.

Thanks for the replies. I'll be giving custom specs. The two preferred 911 shops here in the Bay Area (based on a search here) appear to be Roger Kraus Racing in Castro Valley and Custom Alignment in Mountian View (both closed on weekends).

Yes, I agree 911 familiarity at a minimum is essential - it's just not easy to find on a weekend, at least within a reasonable distance.
