Pitted Fuchs, can they be made to look good?

I have a pair of 8 X 16 Fuchs that I would like to polish but the outer rim has some small pits (they came from the northeast). Will these polish up okay, or will they end up looking like crap because of the pits? What can be done about the pits if they will have an adverse effect o nthe final looks?

Thanks
Bob

It all depends on how deep the pits are. I'd trying polishing them with varying grades of polish to see if I could remove some metal and then finer grades to get the look back.

Or send them to a reputable wheel refinisher. I am not sure if OEM fuchs come with a clear anodize or not.
TODAY THE PITS, TOMORROW THE WRINKLES!

Pictures would be helpful.

You're up in Oregon. It wouldn't cost much to ship them to Al Reed in Anaheim, California. If anyone can make them look great, Al can!

OEM Fuchs do come with a clearcoat...unless someone has removed it.

I agree....send them to Al Reed if you don't feel like doing them yourself.

I've seen some fuchs where the pitting can't be removed. When the factory anodizes them, this helps to hide them. Polishing them only make them worse if they are bad. Amost every fuch is going to have a few pits, but they are usually unnoticable.

Do they anodize the outer part of the rim?

Bullet Bob, Give Al Reed a call. I had Al do a full polish and mask job on my nasty looking 15x6's including one that had gouges around one of the lug recesses. I was sure he would NOT be able to get them out. He said he thought he could - Gawd knows how! - I have posted this before, but just look at the results:

Good luck, but go to Al Reed or Harvey Weidman if you want them done right, clear anodized and low maintenance...not to mention beautiful!
