SC gets a pelican inspired DIY budget makeover....pics
Home painted 'RSR style' 7s & 9s
Early front valance De-rubbered rear bumper Painted centre reflector. Tinted rear and side windows 84mm twin out exhaust The centre reflector was taped over and then the tape painted so its not permanent yet and will be painted properly if the look gets the nod. The fuchs were paint stripped, scuffs polished out, primed and painted with 'galvanised paint' (AFC will have to chip in with the brand names if anyone wants them) masked and then the black bits painted. Rear bumper removed of all rubber, holes filled in and black/silver number plates fitted. Rear spoiler overhauled by following this excellent thread Look what I did!!! The ultimate Whale Tail Rubber stud replacement. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Not my car but fellow pelican AFCuk 's. Posting on his behalf.) I reckon it looks well cool mate. Excellent job ![]()

You might want to reconsider painting the centre reflector if it says PORSCHE in black letters, as those are hard to find, quite expensive, and much in demand these days, possibly even for a pelican makeover artist.

Personally, I don't like the black out center reflector. I'd recommend restoring the black paint surrounding the left rear tail light to match the right side.

I would NOT paint the reflector.
Finish the center caps in the same galanized silver Get a black trim left side tail lense. Reinstall or get euro bumper pads And lastly scrap that leaning rubber antenna Aside from that im not sure that a turbo tail suits a narrow body well. I would consider selling it to buy a ducktail. Allthough it may sound like im beating the car up , im not. Those are just my opinions on a car that likely looked great without some of those changes. You cant beat a black 911 for looks. I have 2 of them myself. Kurt Williams

To be brutal:
The rear looks somewhat high. The antenna has to go. The tail is just way too big for the narrow body and overwhelms it. I'd ditch it completely, but that may not be in the cards. I don't like ducks on this vintage car either, they're not correct. If the car is only street driven, you'll really notice the 25 lbs you'll lose by trashing it. As others have said, I don't think blacking out the reflector is the wisest course. Lastly, the silver petals on the wheels aren't making it for me. The correct blacked out centers would better match the look and be far more subtle. Apart from that, fantastic! ianc
