Front hub removal
How does one go about removing the front caliper and hub (to get the strut powdercoated)? I have removed the nuts and bolts, but I assume the grease cap needs to come off, too? Do I just pry it off with a screwdriver?

If all you want to do is get the assembly (rotor and all) off the strut, knock the cap off (cold chisel and hammer or large channel locks) and remove the wheel bearing retaining nut and then grab the rotor and pull!! That is it. Once the retaining nut is off the outer bearing will fall out and then it is smooth sailing, once the outer bearing tumbles to the ground the whole assemble will likely follow suit.
Cheers

Ok, thanks Jeff. I figured that, but I'm wise enough now to know it's better to ask than to start beating or prying on stuff without having a clue. LOL

Porsche manual shows correct way is to lay one big a$$ screwdriver across the high points of the hub, then, with big a$$ screwdriver #2, lever cap off evenly around the hub
reinstall with a block of wood & hammer, never metal to metal hammer. Bill K
