3.2 Bosch Distributor Cap testing
I'm replacing my flywheel sensors and had my distributor cap and plug wires off.
While I'm in there, I followed the Bentley tests for the rotor and cap just for precaution. Up until this issue with the sensor, I've had good ignition, with only a slight stumble at idle. Bentley says the cap should show no resistance to the center or plug conductors (outer silver plug attachment to inner brass pickup). I'm getting 1K ohm on each of the 6 plug conductors. The center conductor (from the coil) doesn't test right at all. It's like there's sketchy continuity to the springy black internal contact, and when I get a reading, it's like 1K Ohm; the 6 plug contacts on the cap all read 1K Ohm - Bentley says no resistance at all for any of them. Is Bentley correct on the no resistance part? I'm getting a consistent 1K ohm at each of the 6 plug leads after cleaning all carbon from them Should I replace this cap now, and is it a good idea to always do the rotor with it?

Replace them both. They're among the least expensive OEM engine parts.
