auto power vs. das for tall guys
I'm 6'2" and want to buy a roll bar for my 87' 911. Its hard enough with a helmet on and generally my head hits the roof line.. I have read that the DAS bar is more constraining for taller people-seat unable to slide all the way back...has anyone had this experience??

6'3 200# of slim and trim miller lite figure sits perfect with das sports bar and recaro pole positions on sliders mtd to stock porsche mount points. knotch out drivers side main hoop plate(plate to drivers seat belt mount) to clear. track days actually move seat forward. on pimping days all the way back. seats are mtd to top of 4 adj. bolt holes front and rear. possibly i will drop rear down one bolt hole to lower butt while keeping legs a little higher. have been here, done this and agonized over it. have fun getting bar in if it aint a cab. with cab had to start at rear and bolt one pt at a time. the last one will test your patience, your friends patience and severly test how many beers you have left in refrigerator! but i promise you it will go in................LOL you just have to coax it! and you will know if your car has ever been wrecked if all 4 dont line up!

6'3ish with 36" in seam. I have the same set up described above. DAS and pole position seats. I also removed a little of the mounting plate so the slider can move a little farther back. There's plenty of leg room for me and as above, move the seat fwd for track.

way cool car don 911 mines an '87 also! as is the guy interested in das sports bar. was talked out of all the others due to mount plates caving thru floor and not doing what a roll bar is supposed to do, in event of catasrophic crash. i guess mount plates cave thru floorboards and rear and your head becomes roll bar. well being 6'2 -6'3 and owning cab didnt sound like the fun i want to have at my advanced age and intelligence! "with old age comes a cage" i have kinda learned that or had it hammered into my brain from being upside down numerous times off road racing! really happy with my setup. everyone that gets in the damn car has 16 kittens when they finally are buckled up in 5 pts and the rpms start going up! 27 gallon fuel safe cell next on list!

I have the Auto Power "race" bar with the removeable diagonal and cross braces. My seats still go all the way to the back stops on the sliders with room to spare. Plus, I have access to the rear seats for storage when on long trips; with the two braces removed it's not much different, as far as interior access, as having no bar at all. That was important to me. They also provide rather substantial backing plates with which to reinforce the floor. I had the same concern as Charles; having the roll bar legs poking through the floor and using my noggin to hold up the roof is not what I have in mind.
