911 odometer speedometer fix advancement?

Hello guys, i recently purchased a new electric Spedo at zero miles for an 86' carrera. I need to get the miles advanced to match my broken gauge. Does anyone know the wiring and current/ voltage needs to advance the odometer?

I suspect from the wiring diagram ive seen floating around, that the "A" terminal goes to odometer. But is this the positive terminal? Would my dc power supply need to go RED to "A" and Black to "-"?

Someone told me it MIGHT be RED to "12V" and black to "A" but im not sure if that really makes sense.

Any help would be great!

My question is why mess with it? When I had to replace my speedo, I just took some pics with the two together and put the new one in. It was used with close to 30k on it & my old one had close to 81k. I just told my insurance co that I changed out the speedo out and they were fine with it. Of course if a Carfax is run it will state possible roll-back, but I still have the original speedo so the mileages can be checked.

I assume that you have a copy of the ITT UAF2115 chip datasheet ... if not here is a link:

http://users.tpg.com.au/cobra30/images/R31/uaf2115.pdf

The odometer is driven by a bipolar stepper motor, meaning that it has two windings and four wires ...

As mentioned in my PM, the easy way to drive the odometer is to give the speedometer a pulse source and let the 2115 chip do the driving of the odometer ... otherwise you will need a driver circuit for a bipolar 12 Volt stepper.

A shame to do it on a new speedo, but you can also remove the guts and mechanically advance the counters. I did it on my 80 when going from the 85 to the 150 speedo.

Yeah i was thinking about removing the guts but why scratch up a new spedo!

I think i am going to build the pulse sorce you described Early_S_Man. Sounce like the safest thing. I assume its difficult to find one already made correct?
