Clutch Adjustment Help

I recently installed my rebuilt 2.4 in the porsche w/ a new clutch kit. I now need to figure out how to have it in correct adjustment. the problem I am having is that it is hard to get into first and second gear. Seems like it is not fully disengaging. I am thinking it may be a slacked clutch cable. Any of you have the proper way to make the adjustment on the clutch lever and on the pedal side to have it work correctly?
would a stretched cable cause such a problem?

Alot depends on what year car you have. You can try tightening the adjustment on the cable at the transmission end. You want it just tight enough to be able to engage first gear and reverse without grinding. To do this test you should push the clutch in (engine idleing) wait about 5 or 10 seconds for the input shaft to slow down and then try engaging reverse gear. If you get gear grinding then the clutch isn't fully disengaging.

My car is a 71 w/ a 72 915 gearbox and 2.4 engine. It goes into reverse fine no grinding. First gear is 'hard" to get into... And when going to second you have to really go slow w/ shifting it. It feels as though its in a bind. - not disengaging enough. Ive tried tigthening down the 11mm nuts on the clutch lever arm on the transmission and this seemed to only make the clutch disengage at a higer point on the pedal side.. in other words it only seemd to "move the postion of when it engages, Not, making it disengage more.

If it's not grinding when you go to reverse, the clutch is disengaging ok. Try shifter adjustment?
