1967 911 ALL original 8-9 condition ...Worth???

My wife just found a 1967 911 Cobalt blue 105k miles, all original, original owner, no rust, original paint, orig motor, no mods, just normal maintenance. The owner just drove it on the front lawn with a for sale sign when she was going by.

He is asking $13,999 ... is it worth more? I dont believe it is an "S" or a "T".
Is it price low/ high???
I will go soon to check it out and want your thoughts.
Ken

It's all about condition but unless it's a rustbucket or has been seriously 'upgraded' , that's a great price. Which street in Wappinger Falls?

Be careful posting a photo. People on this forum are very resourceful. They will use clues from the photo to determine the location of the car. Clues such as architecture style of surrounding homes, location of sun and topograhical features relative to time of day to determine geographical location, street paving materials to determine neighborhood.

Ahhh, those old short wheelbase 911's . Just not much demand for them these days...the demand for the '69-'73 models is low as well. Ken, there were no T models in '67. Then, it was just "911" or "911S" Check the front VIN plate in the trunk...if there is an S after the numbers, you've really hit paydirt.

Hi Ken. If it's really as described, then a price in the $20k range would be a fair price for the car. The trouble is, it's difficult to validate all those things-- how can a casual observer tell it's the same engine without the kardex? Also, as you probably are aware Cobalt Blue is a later color. And while i would like to believe that there is "no rust" if I had $1 for all the "no rust" SWB cars that I've looked at that made the Titanic look concours I'd have enough to buy a 356.

Please don't let any of what I've said deter you from looking but you should really enlist the help of somebody who is an SWB car expert. Unfortunately, this weekend is the Lime Rock Club Race or I would volunteer to look at it for you, subject only to the request that if you determined not to buy it you'd give me the next crack at it.

John's advice is sound. I'd suggest you take him up on the offer...

Not jacking the tread just a friendly
Question, Question.

what is more valuable
1-coupe
2-Targa (soft window)

I know of a targa that has been repainted Black ( not original) and needs outter rockers but other wise a very solid car. It would need to be striped and repainted the original color.

Whats a ball park value ? Asking price is $10,000.
Any opinions.

Herman,

It all depends on three things: condition, condition, condition. A ratty SWT, despite their comparative rarity, would be much less than a concours coupe. The trouble with "needing outer rockers" is that once they have rotted through, you can be sure there will be other issues, e.g. inners, jack points, heater tubes, etc. Witness DarrylD's heroic efforts with his '65 912 as an example of what you find "while you are in there." That being said, a year ago when I bought my "driver" '66 coupe, all complete, numbers matching, $10k was a reasonable price. With the current hysteria, however, the seller should be able to achieve that even with the rust, although unless everything else is original and perfect, it does not currently make economic sense to restore.

Which does NOT mean one shouldn't do it: if you want an investment, try the Stock Exchange. If you want the purest form of the 911, only the SWB cars offer that experience.

For a SWB car to do 105,000 miles in NY without rust is remarkable.

Well after making the trek to view this masterpiece.......
Its a piece alright.
There is rust on the entire underside with holes too!
The body must have a skim coat of bondo on the whole thing, because the rust bubble pock marks are everywhere. Body panels all fit terrible. Someone did a terrible respray ...long ago. .orange peel, and overspray allover. The rubber is all shot. The dash is shot. Seats are ok, not sport seats, tan and badly discolored. The motor runs ...lots of leaks.
Its a real rat. Parts car at best.

I will still thank wifey for looking out. I cant believe her "car eye" is that bad. I will never tell her. Just say it wasn't too good.

Too bad.

It could have ranked right up there with the best "barn find" stories...
