Dusted the winter Cobwebs and headed to Lime Rock PCA

Phoenix awoke from her long winters nap after having refurbished guages installed. When filling her up with gas ($40.- ), I ran into an '86 Carerra with a couple of guys heading to Lime Rock. Having totally forgot about this week's events, I headed home, changed and drove up (only about an hour 15).

Here are a few pics:

Check out these curves. It looked authentic to me but I'm no expert. Beautiful!
(I only wish I was a better camera man):

Oliver, I too was looking at your car at Lime Rock today, nice car.

The Cayman was pretty impressive for a first effort, he was running well till he had (engine?) problems mid race. I talked to the driver a bit this morning, and he said they are basically groping in the dark. He thinks that it's the first dedicated track Cayman, and there is no setup info available anywhere. Fitting the rollcage into the space available was a real piece of work too.

Jim - thanks for the kind words on the car. She looks pretty good and runs ok. Planning a suspension refresh and lowering this year and a completely new engine next. Once these are completed, I'm done for a few years. No, really, I am :-)

The event was very entertaining. I was there alone and wishing I was out there the vs. just watching. I've DE'd at Lime Rock a few times a couple of years ago and miss it soooo much. Big Bend can be tricky. A bit of a double apex. If you miss either, you're off for the following left and right. I left after only a couple of hours. I hate window shopping -- well, not really :-)

It was a GREAT day at the track. We headed up this morning from Long Island by way of the ferry and the back way to the trackin the yellow 73 RS pictured. I had route 7 along the river all to myself this morning. The best winding road around for sure. Great drive. Sorry I did not meet any of you guys. The 914 by the way is known as the "Batmobile" and has been run by the same guys for years.
