 Yeah, I think in one of the pics I see a guy with his head bandaged, but otherwise I'd guess they came out ok.

Well, who pays for the Armco?? That won't be cheap, LOL MAYbe they can sell the seats to help defray the governments bill...

Who said the new Porsches are not well built anymore? It's a Cabrio and I'm hopefully optimistic the driver(s) survived. The most amazing thing next to the engine picture is how well the front collapsed. Even the driver door looks it can still swing. Now, what caused the car to spin?

Well, you can always TELL people not to use the cell phone at speed....
My WAG - non-factory wheel and tires maybe incorrectly speed rated. One blew at speed, driver locked it up, slow spin to his right into guard rail, rear hits first ("unbolt and remove engine") bounces across road to left rail scraping off the front. Check the skid marks in picture 4!

considering the speed that appears to have been involved I'd say it's a big thumbs up to porsche build quality. Enough force to remove the engine & a wheel & they're still ok. I've seen worse at most accidents I've attended between 50 and 80km.

Too much credit for the car and not enough for the Armco. IMO, to stretch it out like that, shear off the posts, etc., the barrier absorbed a LOT of energy. Oh yes, taking it's toll on the car as it went. But, a blunt force impact strong enough to completely dislodge the motor would certainly have been game over for the occupants. I'd say it was a very lucky combination much like the Enzo in Malibu.
BTW, the owner of that car won't need to worry any more about when to change the dirty oil. |
