Pelican Parts Marketing idea

OK we all get stickers in the goods we buy from Pelican - well my take on them is great - I have one on my refridgerator - but really it's too big for my car.

what about a smaller sticker - like just the pelican, no text

Maybe 1 x 1 or 1.5 x 1.5

I'd put one on my helmet - hell get me "cloth" one and I'd wear it to P-car functions on my shirt. I'm pretty outgoing = but of I saw a pelican somewhere it would sure start a conversation.

Yeah - I know I can cut the pelican out of the existing sticker -

opinions?

The best logos have symbols that are recognizable. A Pelican by itself only serves to indentify one Pelicanhead to another. I think PP needs to keep the PelicanParts.com part of the sticker for the whole story.

Now, if the pelican were holding something more recognizable, say like an image of Jack's car.....

Milt,

I think the Pelican is a cult in-joke and should stay as such. I have one on my back window and either people know what it is or they ask. I can’t imagine any better form of advertising than having an uninitiated Porsche owner ASK about the Pelican and us devotees explain.

Best,
Grady

I cut out the Pelican and the pelicanparts.com parts separately and put them on my helmet.

A shield shape like the old BP shield (on the BP 911R) or the shape of a Porsche shield...?

I like the Pelican Parts Technical BBS logotype from the long sleeve shirts that Souk made up. If there was a sticker like that, I'd put it on my car...

I like that as well and would put one in my car window if it could be an inside mount.

Dude, I would throw one on the inside of my window as well. I live for this board. I may not be a heavy poster but I'm one hell of a reader. Where would I be without this bbs?

I'm shock at how many guys in my local PCA chapter that don't take advantage of this board. I often wonder if they know what a resource this place is. EVERY 911 question I have ever had has been answered right here.

A better (more effective) doesn't require a third person (you) to communicate the message. People should be able to figure it out on their own.

This certainly is a more flattering way to advertise...to all parties involved.

It all depends on the company's perpective of how they want to market. Some companies like viral markerting. Some don't. It works in this environment because car parts are a commodity unlike having a deck built or and ERP system.

Oh, *****, that was my MBA talking. Sorry.

I will "fly" the Pelican flag as well as I do my local BMW cycle shop, especially when he supports my local wrenching sessions and Regional tech sessions with crap to hand out. He could choose to ignore the diy ' guys like me,saying it hurts his shop,BUT that would not be smart when I need parts etc, so it's a two way street.
It is remembered by most !!

Wayne and co. know that knowledge has the power to sell, and he is wise for creating, and funding ,the bbs for us/him as part of his business. Very smart.
Gone are the days of keeping the knowledge to one's self ,the business owners that adhere to this practice are the future dinosaurs.

But I'm preaching to the proverbial choir 1 sorry!

I put the pelican sticker on my car but it came apart in the rain?? How about a sticker that can stand up to rain for more than a week? Or have they improved the sticker?

Hell I just cut one down and put it on the driver's side rear window a few of years ago. Still there:

I agree with Zeke that it identifies "us" but to the newcomer to the Porsche world it means nothing. When I first started working on my car, I had no idea where to go to get parts. Took awhile before I figured it out. If you added "Porsche Parts" or similar, you would increase your target audience to the newbies.
