front wheel alignment

I had my car in for alignment last Friday. The guy at the shop had never worked on a Porsche before, but that was alright I knew what I wanted and how to do it. Well almost everything, the rear was real easy and we got it perfect at -2 degrees of camber and 15 minuets of toe in.
But at the front I only knew to loosen the 3 bolts in the trunk.

How do you actually move the front camber/caster?

You had it. Knock off all the sealant around the three socket bolts on each strut and you can adjust the camber and caster.

You're there. You loosen those bolts and move the top of the strut back and forth and side to side. After you get to the settings you want you tighten them back up. You'll find you can't get much negative camber. You might be able to get more by removing the dust cover tubes on the top of the struts. They are the big hollow tubes that hang down over the shocks. They can hit the inner fender when you try to get more negative camber.

wow, we can adjust caster on these cars? I didn't know that.
On caster, you want the most you can get, is it right?

So basically you move this red piece (strut mount) around?

Do you just pry against the mounting plates/screws and the trunk (with some protection of course)?

This strut mounts are located under the fender, right?

Don't get too excited, it's only a slight amount of adjustment at best.

Cheers,

Joe
