Engine Drop Question
I've got a 3.2L and I was curious if I should remove the heat exchangers prior to the drop? Is it OK to support the weight of the engine on the heat exchangers...utilizing a piece of plywood on a furniture dolley?
What is the best way to remove the heat exhangers while the engine is in? I couldn't use my socket wrench/hex bit/extension because the base of the socket was too wide. It looks like you need a very long hex bit...what's the best tool for future reference? |
Leave them on.....They will support the weight of the engine very nicely. To remove the HE's, spray with PB Blaster, let sit a few days and repeat several times. Then use heat (torch) and be careful to not break any studs....

I agree don't remove them. they can support the weight and make a nice platform if you use a ATV type of jack to support the motor

they are sturdy - and more importantly - nice and flat - keep em on...

Does that apply to SSI's?

yes
