The correct people are the ones saying they love Porsches and that It makes no difference. Unless you own a bad one and don't have a scooby-do how to refurb the roof. Not dissimilar to the 915 gearbox utter nonsense spouted. Sure if you have bad ones they ain't the best. These bad one / good one threads should be kicked into orbit.

As you can see, quality control on targas was so bad the steering wheel is right in front of the passenger! I guess they built targas on Mondays.
Beautiful car ^^ |
Ask Mark Donahoue
Mark Donahue ("Big Bad Ass" American Race Driver) had only positive comments about the TARGA (read the articles) and the overall driving experience. If you can do better lap times in equally prepared 911's between a Targa & Coupe then please post your lap times. I am talking about the point of diminishing returns. For pure competitive racing I would start with a Coupe, but the TARGA is a great "real world" balance 911. If you are a good enough driver to tell the difference between a Targa & a Coupe then you should be driving current LeMans cars or have raced IMSA cars. Cut the craptastic debate and spend your time going out for a ride to enjoy life in your 911 (whatever the flavor). The tourists try to chase my old 911 TARGA Hot Rod thru the canyons when I go for a rides with my wife's rat dog hanging the out window (slow ride). However, the tourist could not tell the difference between a TARGA & a COUPE while they are almost crashing.

From the driver's seat Targas are awesome any time you can take the top off. To my eye the coupes have better lines. Take your pick, what makes you smile?

It's funny, Coupe guy's want Targas and Targa owners want Coupe's, seems like the dilemma around my parts, both beautiful machines. Enjoy what you have and drive hard life is too short! Sent from Mars |
All jokes aside,
i have owned both, and either cars are great to own and drive, and when you get the fine weather, just take the top off' feel the wind in your hair [if you still have some] and smile from ear to ear, safe in the knowledge that you are driving one of the best' and most iconic cars of all time! :) Anthony. |
I just drove my targa 1000k in 4 days -- nothing crazy, just 3-5 hours a day at moderate speeds with spirited shifts and even the newly refurbished top has a slight wind leak (seals next) and the passenger window has come off the rails a hint (need to reach over and adjust until it gets repaired) and it definitely squeaks and rattles. Oh and it thrums about 70mph a bit much and.....
I LOVE IT. I just walked in the door and am gonna go pick my lady up just to drive it some more. That said, I'm saving for a coupe -- not to trade this for but to own both. |
