It's not that it's a targa, it's that it's not a coupe.

Spede 05-05-2006 06:39 PM

Personally, I think they're fugly because the ruin the perfect silhouette of the 911 coupe. Especially, with the larger/higher rear window. It totally kills the curve. But that's just me and it's my OPINION!

DarrylD 05-05-2006 06:41 PM

Had one, here's my ***** list:

1. chassis flex
2. noisy, squeak due to #1
3. they all leak at the vent glass frame
4. expensive to reupholster and never look quite right
5. eventually crack along edge bead
6. rear window weatherstrip is almost impossible to replace w/o breaking glass, no shop will touch it
7. floorpan rust due to #3

That about sums-up why I sold mine.

SvK,
Yes I have a Targa but I've had it for a year...I double posted---one post to see what people hate about targas and one to see what people love about them. How's your p car treating you?
Christian.

Today: A rare 75 Degrees in Seattle...........Drove 100 miles.....Targa's Rule!!!!!!!!!

I think the classic lines of the 911 are in large part defined by the roof. I don"t mind Targas but definitely prefer the coupe.

gassy 05-05-2006 06:47 PM

Nice, Lake!

Mike Feinstein 05-05-2006 06:51 PM

Yep....they're just plain ugly:

dafischer 05-05-2006 07:03 PM

It's open air motoring, 911 style. What more could you ask for?

svonkampen 05-05-2006 07:07 PM

Christian

I don't even own a 911 yet, so I guess that qualifies me as a non-targa owner. But I will.
Targas do look kinda goofy- especially with a tail.
But the advantages of a targa top outweighs the goofiness.
Plus cabs look really goofy with the top up.

Have a great weekend!

Paul.

Mike Feinstein 05-05-2006 07:11 PM

Okay. Uglier yet...
