While The Engine Is Out...
 

Maybe I'm not searching w/the right terms...

Engine's out during a top end rebuild. So what are some things I can (or should) do now that I would likely curse over if I waited until after the engine's back in. Keep in mind I am very much a non-wrench (but I'm hoping to be reformed). :D Thanks.

i'm in the middle of an engine compartment cleanup, today was spent cleaning 20 years of grime out and removing most of the engine pad glue...i'm suprised it's still so white, didn't think to take a before pic :D

- check clutch and flywheel
- check CV joints
- replace shifter bushings and shift coupler
- inspect all hoses and replace as necessary
- inspect condition of wiring harness
- clean all goop out of engine bay and (particularly) transmission tunnel area, check for rust
- replace engine compartment sound pad if it is falling apart
- repair any damaged undercoating

search up past threads for many ideas on this

I'd prob. do a new clutch cable, and for sure clean the engine compartment & put in a new sound pad.

Wouldn't it be wise to 'freshen up' the bottom end at the same time if it has not been done recently?

Oil light sender
Breather gasket
Main seal
Fuel lines

Replace pressure switch.

replace rear shocks

coilovers, gearbox rebuild, full restoration, etc. :)
