Idle stop setting

Hi,
How do you adjust / set the throttle butterfly stop screw? The question comes as I am checking the throttle limit switch and notice it apparently isn't set correctly. The throttle limit switch is activated very early coming off of a throttle state and the adjustment screw which activates this switch is already backed out nearly all the way. Haynes says to adjust the throttle limit switch at 2mm and then turn in the screw until the switch is activated. So it appears the only way to adjust the limit switch is to adjust the throttle butterfly stop setting (opening up the butterfly would increase the distance between the limit switch and it's activating screw. Logically this will open up the butterfly a little introducing air. Is the butterfly supposed to be a little open during idle? I wouldn't think so. Therefore, adjust the throttle stop screw would probably mean having to adjust the butterfly position. Thanks for any help in advance.

I think you might need to look at the linkage arms. Maybe they need extending/reducing.

The butterflies should be closed at idle.

It is possible that the microswitch and screw arm are somehow bent/deformed.

I have not checked if the microswitch can be adjusted (is it possible?). The linkage arms should be adjusted so that the throttle butterfly can return to the closed position.
Engine is a '75 ROW with CIS (non-modified).
Chassis is a '74 ROW. No handle throttle connected to the engine as I believe the '75 engine doesn't have it but the lever in the cab is there.
How important is this microswitch especially if it is not adjusted correctly?
