Question G50 clutch pedal feel

Anyone have this prob? Whats' the solution?

The clutch pedal in my G50 car behaves a bit odd. I have had the the system fluid bled and replaced multiple times always with the same result.

Within about 3-4 hours driving time the pedal goes a bit soft and take-up occurs when the pedal is depressed about 1/3 into its travel rather than right away. After each bleed the pedal behaves normally then 'stabilizes' at about 1/3 travel. It doesn't get worse it just stays there. The M/C is full and doesn't seem to leak. The slave seems fine also although, I haven't had it off the car.

First DE of the year is a week Monday!

TIA

Not sure if this is your problem...I'm not exactly sure what you are describing, but I was having some problems with my '88 and it turned out to be the master cylinder. I'd replaced the slave but it turned out it was still working okay but it's good to have it replaced. Anyway, in my case the pedal would slowly drop if under slight or constant pressure. I could pull it back and then it would work fine if I depressed it quickly. I'm not sure but I think the seals are wearing out in one or both of the clutch cylinders. There's not much to this system but it can be a major PITA to get to them. Whatever you do don't waste a bunch of time not doing a partial drop if you plan to replace the slave cylinder. Don't ask how I know.
Good Luck,

dudes, same problem here. Here's what happened to me. Did the do just like you guys ...won't fix it... If at sometime or another you have updated the fork and bearing on the clutch fork, good. But my pedal kept falling down a third and I'd pull it up everything fine. last friday ........................... clutch pedal pin broke into two pieces. The pin under the floor pan inside the car that the clutch and brake pedals ride on. broke in two..... only in stutgart , not one in N.A. (north america) I could not believe it. But, It was from the clutch release bearings, fork that had seized up at sometime before my ownership and forced down and twisted the pin (or rod) once twisted it was hard to tell that was what caused the pedal to always seem low..... go figure. And then it broke I had noticed it was worse than usual about staying dn.

Clutch cylinder seals - I'll check those. The pin in the pedal cluster is OK.

I have the fork upgrade. Thanks for the replies.

yes, I do also. I did mine last summer.... but I didn't think of it weakening the clutch pin.

My car had teh fork update at some pint in the past. WHen I had the engine out this winter, I noticed the cross shaft was binding to the point it was probably not returning all the way to resting state immediately upon release.

I had to clean up the busings some more and clean the wear ridges up on the shaft. This freed things up a lot.

Now once back in the car, the pedal is light and the movement
is much better - I can feel the pressure plate spring pushing back on the pedall

Is it possible your clutch shaft is binding and not returning to resting state after you lift your foot off the clutch?

Sounds like we are taking your motor out!! He He, just kidding, although we could get those pesky oil leaks while we were at it!!

Cheers
