930's why 2 fuel pumps

Just like the title. Why do the 930 turbo cars have two fuel pumps?

The 930 was 280-300 hp in stock form so one fuel pump would have done..

I believe the 930 was initially produced in production quanities to enable homologation for racing, putting in the second rear fuel pump, ensured that the fuel delivery system was sufficient for the target output of the race vehicles.

The 917/30 1300hp race car was the inspiration for the creation of the 930. It was such a sucessfull car that many say the rules were changed to ensure it could not compete and left Porsche without a competative vehicle.

This lead to the development of the Turbocharged Porsche 934 (Group 4 ) and 935 (Group 5) and 936 (Group 6) , the 930 street car was initially expected to sell only 500 units to meet the racing homologation requirements but became a phenomenon in its own right.

This is my best guess

Quick fuel pressure built up when needed w/o starvation = reliable boost power.
