I was going to head down on Saturday to check things out, take some photos, etc. Not sure what time or what we'll be driving, either my 911 or our Boxster.

Talk about killer weather!!! Wow. I'll post pics tomorrow. At least one member of this board was there, John Cramer, and did a great job in his 71 2.2 H class vintage baby. Tomorrow, my friend and very occasional Pelican poster Mike Piera will take his GT3 Cup car out ....always a treat to see those run!

As for me, I was scheduled to get my old 911 on the track for the DE stuff, but the ignition switch failed. Turn key: nothing happens. Couldn't get it fixed in time. Sigh........

Sorry to miss this last post. I was sleeeeping, LOL. Then up and out early to the track. Watched John Cramer run, and run well, then worked the radio for Mike Oiera in the GT3 Cup car )silver with gree/yellow mirrors.) He started nearly next to last for the enduro due to some offical screw up, but had a great drive, was at least as high as third at one point. Were your 944s parked at the top of the hill near the pine trees? I saw a white and red parked together when i was leaving.

Hey Jim,

I tried looking for you after I spotted Sascha parked close to where we were, but never saw you. I did get your note though....

Anybody know exactly what failed on the Cayman? It looked like it was turning pretty good times, then it came down the hill smoking and into the pits.....

I have a few good pics, will try to post later today.

Jake, thanks a lot for the help!!

I was doing my own support for the race so it helped a lot having you to bleed brakes, do radios, get gas etc...

The guys in our group were so fast... I about matched the previous PCA overall lap record but it was only 5th fastest in the race.

I did end up 3rd in the Enduro, about 20 seconds back. I lost a lot of time starting from the back but Dino would have been tough to keep behind me.

Thanks again!

Jim, great photos, thanks!

Jake, it was great to see you and thanks for the help on the grid.

I just got off the phone with Dan Jacobs thanking him for the work on the car. I was doing 1:10's when I showed up because that was as fast as the old suspension and wheels previously allowed. My fast time of the weekend was a 1:05.7, which isn't enough to podium overall, but it's a significant improvement. It was a HUGE learning experience and if I didn't have confidence in the car and Dan's work I could never have done it. Bravo Dan Jacobs.

One thing I learned is that you cannot, cannot, cannot feather or lift once you commit to the downhill. I started taking it without braking for the first time, but the line across the bumpy apex must be very, very accurate and you have to be on the throttle while the camber is still rising up to meet you-- the camber goes "off" about 1/2 way between the apex and the trackout and so corrections are more difficult.

Mike, nice to see you and chat briefly. Hope the green car is back in action soon, although I imagine you'll be bringing the Cup to The Glen.

I have some great video of a 944 spinning right in front of me in Big Bend, if I can find a way to host it I'll put up a link.

This event sure is great when the weather is nice. Of course, I claim full credit for that insofar as I purchased brand new rain tires and brought my umbrella. Result: four days of high pressure sunshine!

John,

I've got a couple decent photos of you in Big Bend and then going up the back by the camping areas. Will try to post later - let me know if you want full res on CD.

John; Why not post it on Trackday Media?

One of the sheet metal plugs that is pressed in at the end of the cam carrier fell out.

Hey Mike, thats great!! That was a lot of traffic to work though and you were conservative! Awesome...and CLEAN run. Was a pleasure to watch.

Remember, Dino has the much desired, but rarely found unfair advantage, LOL.

At least you got the $ worth from the tires.

John...it was fun hanging with you and John Colosante (sp?). Don't give TOO much credit to Dan, you did a great job. I was impressed with how you held off that 944 ...the one with more motor it appeared...and the braking at the end of the straight was masterful,. Then tiy just drove away on the outside. Nice! Big Bend is cool like that...lots of room to be creative.

Whats your next race plan?

How was your enduro finish?
