Upgraded more modern fuse box
 

Is there any kind of upgraded more modern fuse box made for a 911. This POS fuse box in my SC just isn't going to cut it. I have never seen it but if a more modern replacement fuse box exists I am buying it. Anyone?

Try a search...this was a hot subject a year ago and a few guys posted some slick replacements they did.

Uhhhhh.........did you click the painless link above? It doesn't get anymore available than that. Other options from 3 to 18 circuits available at Summit.

If you find the thread, it may have mentioned waytek.com. They have 4, 6, 8 and 12-place ATO-type fuse boxes that have a similar configuration as the factory box.

Keep the same fuse/circuit positions so as not to confuse the next PO or your favorite diagnostic tech. Do it neat and tidy like the factory did.

Some in the other thread who is doing this or poss. had already done it said he repalced all teh wires he could get to in the trunk area. What would be the point in that? running good new wire to old weathered wire????? That woudl actually make a bad sitaution worse would it not?

Often the only bad part of the old wire is near the ends. With many connections in the trunk area, replacing all the wires up there avoids having to cut back each individual wire to determine where it seems "fresh" and where is seems "old".

Oh yeah, other reason for replacing wires up there is current flow issues, like if you needed to run bigger wire to the headlights.

That is my guess why someone would replace the front wires and connect them to the wires running to the back. Additionally, the wiring harness that is in the front trunk doesn't all route through the tunnel, so you could replace the harness in sub-sections if you wanted to.

I don't see a need to customize much if at all. Almost looks like the factory fuse box except for the missing suppository cartridge fuses.

Sherwood is right, it looks like an easy fix with the wavtek stuff. 30 amp capacity. I will see about getting some stuff!

Anyone have a direct link to the fuse block? I found wavetek but no block.
