Help with A/C set up
I'm adding air to my 75 Carrera. I have an 86 3.2 in the car and should have eveything I need (thank you Jeff) except the underdash panel for air vents. My car does not have air currently so no vents for air. I've seen underdash units but don't know where to find such an item. Best to start with you guys!

Look for one of the legions of guys who are removing their A/C. Try and find one who carefully removed the system and buy their parts. I recommend you first try and find a factory system (narrow vent louvers and a triangular opening through the fire wall into the smugglers box) or second choice a Kcool system (wider vent louvers and rectangular hole through the firewall). You need a complete system - evaporator/blower to under-dash duct with all the wiring harness and relay and fuses or circuit breaker. Ask for everything: flexible duct hose, clamps, mounting brackets, screws, rubber grommets, etc. as many of these parts are NLA or are expensive.
The rest of the system will consist of the compressor, mounting bracket and double groove pulley for the crank, receiver/drier and mounting bracket (you'll need a new receiver/drier), deck lid condenser and mounting brackets, bracket to shift ignition coil downward so it will clear the deck lid condenser, front valence condenser, guard, ducting and fan (a large hole will have to be cut in the front wall of the trunk to install these parts) and a large amount of hose with securing brackets and screws. Good luck, Jim Last edited by Jim Sims; 05-14-2006 at 07:56 PM.. |
