Racecar is finally done.

I am very pleased to say that I am finally done with new racecar. The last 10 weeks were a monumental effort at MotoDelta but would not have been possible without the assistance and encouragement of many.

The racecar was built as a joint effort between the businesses in a record 10 weeks. The car, originally a 1970 3.0L RSR replica was turned into a GT class racecar at MotoDelta. Upgrades included:

- Conversion from "long hood" to "short hood"
- Custom 965 fiberglass front bumper (quick release)
- 965 fiberglass rear bumper (quick release)
- 3.8 RSR tail
- 1997 "Evo" wing with FabCar uprights
- 965 rocker panels
- Custom front and rear quick-release fiberglass fender flares

- Additional cage bracing
- EuroEast/CCW 17x9 and 17x10 wheels with 245/295 Hoosier R6 tires
- New titanium spring keepers and EBS V-max springs
- Rebuilt/retuned 46mm weber carbs
- LNEngineering 100mm cylinders
- J&E 100mm 10.5:1 compression lightweight pistons
- Balanced and lightened crank
- Balanced and lightened rods
- new ARP rod bolts
- refreshed engine
- Powder Coated valve covers and fan from EuroEast
- Decambered ball joints, bump-steer arms, and upper strut mounts
- New chassis setup

No effort like this can be completed without the help of many companies and individuals and I would like to thank the following people for their contributions making this project a reality. They include:

MotoDelta Motorsports: Provided the design and complete construction of the car. Esther Streit at MotoDelta provided the support, motivation and coordination that she does so well to ensure the project moved along smoothly.

Jerry StGermaine: For assisting in design, providing financial support and endless enthusiasm for this project! Jerry was absolutely intrumental in providing encouragement and generally helping to get the project done on-time.

LNEngineering: Charles at LN provided a custom set of CNC aluminum cylinders for the engine upgrade well within deadlines and to very precise specifications as is the norm for him.

Performance Signs: Andy Cook at Performance Signs provided a superb set of vinyl for the racecar.

EBSRacing: EBS sourced the custom J&E pistons to work with the new cylinders and were easy to work with and very responsive to our inquiries.

Jims Automotive: (Naperville, IL) Jim Meiling provided expert advice and willing effort to assist in setup and balancing of the revised chassis.

GruppeB Forums: The members of GruppeB are always willing to help a fellow owner with time, effort, and enthusiasm in order to get the job done! (Thanks JayJ for the graphic design, and Kevin/Josh for the last minute engine motivation)

Wow! Very nice! I'm not clear: is it still a 3.0 or was it bored out? Oh, and can I take it for a drive?

Dave I think he went with 100mm bore on the rebuild, only vaguely confident of that statement though. Looks very mean in comparison I must say and you got quite a bit of work done in a very short span of time. Congrats on how it turned out. I am sure your very proud and very tired of working on it at this point!

I liked the old version, but the new version is equally awesome. Very well done. Good luck!

Thanks everyone.

I liked the "previous Phoebe" as well but really wanted to step it up a notch with the racing so the decision was easy to make. I think this was always the car Phoebe wanted to be.

dd74 - in the build you'll see that I used 100mm Nickies and J&E pistons for 3317cc's...

I am rather exhausted at this point. There are a lot of really late nights in that car and a lot of stress from trying to coordinate everything that needed to be done. With racing season starting in earnest, everyone was busy so there were a lot of delays to deal with, and long lead times... It was worth it though.

Chris, you should be proud! She's gorgeous, so be careful out there.

When you talk about the 10 weeks, I envision a Discovery Channel program. You know, "sparks fly, tempers flare as the crew approaches the deadline"..

Tristan, once things settle down a bit we'll sneak off to Autobahn for some laps. Maybe we can swap cars and get some feedback?! I'm going down there Tuesday for some setup work, and then two back-to-back weekends, should be ready after that!

Thanks Ed, if you talk with Jerry, he'll confirm that story, he talked me off the ledge more than a few times... It was a rollercoaster!

Nice Job Chris!! Glad Jerry got you sorted out with wheels! He is helping me out as well, a REAL great guy! Car looks great, I just love the "bolt on" flair look, it is tempting me.......

Cheers

Jeff,

It's actually quite useful when working on the suspension. All the bodywork can come off in less than 5 minutes...

THese wheels? Too nice to drive.

AAAAAAAAArrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggg, must resist the urge to go to a wide body, must resist........

Where did you source the flairs from for the bolt on application?

Wheels, what are those? I have not owned any for 3 months! But yes, yours are sweet!

Cheers
