Hawk pad wear

Hey Guys,

I have a set of Hawk HP plus pads on the 912-6, carrera calipers and rotors, stock MC, with a stock proportioning valve.

I have 3-4 weekends of wear on the pads, all DE's. Front pads are 1/4" still, rears are down to 1/8".

I've never seen rears wear down faster than fronts, is this normal with track use?

It's normal for Carrera calipers, they are heavily rear biased, when line pressure is > 33bar the oem p/v will cut the presssure to the rear by 46% shifting bias, applied brake torque and pad/rotor wear to the front. But whenever the line pressure is < 33bar the rear is doing more than it's fair share of the work. If you have nice squeeky pads(you should) then you can actually hear which end is working and the shift back to front, front to back.

Your case sounds a bit worse than usual, I would inspect the fronts to be sure that everything is working nominally, including the lines. But if that is all ok then you will just live w/ it.

Very odd. My '88 Carrera goes through about two set of front HP+ pads for every rear set.

Does your 912 employ a proportioning valve?

So how do I check if my proportioning valve is working correctly? I got it as a freebie from a pelican when I first installed the carrera brakes.

Car stops great on the track, never fades. Been standing on them harder and harder with each weekend I go.

Rob, will you be at CMP this weekend?

Hi John,

I will be at the track Friday. I'm skipping the PCA DE this weekend. We're going to the beach instead.
