Assembling my 2.7:
I dropped a wrist pin circlip into the case like a dumbass. Any good way to find/retreive without tearing down the whole thing? BTW- yes I have the book, no I don't always pay attention.

Just guessing, but the clip is iron and the case is aluminum, I think, try a garage magnetic flex tool from your local autoparts and go fishing.
BTW, I'm in Orlando tonight and would have been happy to stop by and drink your beer and help you go fishing. Too late now.

Magnet on a flexible rod to hunt around, been there done that! You are not the only one to do this that is for sure!
You will get it, don't worry. Cheers

BTDT - just like bbh03, I dropped a washer - but it was in through the open distributor hole. It stuck between the case and the timing chain so no amount of turning over or searching with a magnet helped. I pulled the chain housing covers off, and there it was.

You might have to buy, borrow, rent or steal a bore scope to look inside.

That's happened a million times. Patience and a flexible magnet wand almost always work. Don't move the engine or spin the crank or it might get trapped or go deeper. Good luck
